Good Finds | Blue Glass Birds Nest Candy Dish

May 23, 2013

I found this unique piece at a local antique shop. This color blue always gets my attention. The nest is made of blue milk glass, the bird is a more opaque blue glass.

The bird is actually removable. So what was the intended purpose?

It's a candy dish! It was manufactued in the early to mid 20th century by Westmoreland. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information about the manufacturing date.  It's said to be rare and retails anywhere from $40-$150. I only paid $19!

You can purchase this item from a few Etsy shops-
